In these times
of great upheaval and change, in these times when the structures we have known
for ages are crumbling, in these times when women's voices are being stilled
worldwide, in these times we bring acknowledgement and honor to the Great
Mother, who, with the Father God is an aspect of Great Spirit, or the
Universal One.
From the writings of thealogian,
Carol Christ: One of the most unexpected developments of the late
twentieth century is the rebirth of the religion on the Goddess in western
culture... Finding the Goddess has felt like coming home to a vision of life
that we had always known deeply within ourselves: that we are part of
nature and that our destiny is to participate fully in the cycles of birth,
death, and renewal that characterize life on this earth. We find in the
Goddess a compelling image of female power, a vision of the deep connection of
all beings in the web of life, and a call to create peace on earth."
Our Native American elders tell us
that the world is out of balance, that Earth herself is crying. We see
this imbalance every day and are convinced that when Woman is truly in equal
partnership with Man, balance will be restored, a great healing will take
place, and humanity will emerge into an age of justice and peace. This
is our intent: to make the Feminine Divine as visible in our small part
of the world as is the Masculine Divine, so that we may help to bring true
balance and understanding to our area's diverse spiritual communities.
In ancient times the Goddess was
said to have ten thousand names. In these times She has billions of
names, for She is within every one of us, no matter what our gender, no matter
what our station in life, no matter what our spiritual beliefs. Behold,
each of us is the Goddess!
